Hygrothermal evaluation of sustainable insulating panels

Abstract Interest in sustainable building materials is recently growing up due to the environmental pollution and consequent need reduce energy consumption. The sector alone responsible of major share total expenditure mainly indoor heating cooling. This huge amount can be reduced by choosing efficient thermal insulators based on renewable natural sources. Among bio-based components by-products derived from wood industry or, alternatively, food residues represents a serious challenge towards revaluation wastes. On other side use paper pulp originated recycled cardboard considered valid alternative traditional currently present market. Here an effort has been made realize insulting panel using different components: pulp, coffee pods sawdust powder. aim evaluate performances recycled-waste panels. measurements dry-state conductivity, diffusivity volumetric heat capacity were performed transient plane source device. Furthermore, numerical simulation was carried out perform hygrothermal behaviour best mix for final experimental insulation panel.
